Preparations are being made. I know some of the names on the Men’s team. I haven’t seen a list of the Women’s team yet, but I know there is one and the meeting places arranged and scheduled. I know that the board has been and continues to evaluate and discuss the things that need to be decided. I know plans are taking place at the location of the event. Preparations are taking place as you read this.
I’ve also received e-mails from some community members asking for prayers and asking for the receivers to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit on whom they should possible ask to attend the next set of walks. It’s all part of a process of “Getting Ready.”
If you go back to the very first talk, Priorities, and remember the process; imagination, will, planning and action, you will understand what it takes to get pilgrims “ready” for the next set of walks.
Relying on the Holy Spirit, can you imagine the people in your “circle” that would be likely candidates? Do they fit the criteria? (Are they active in their church, seeking a deeper understanding of their faith, physically able to participate in a weekend event, emotionally stable of the decisions they will endure?)
Relying on the Holy Spirit for assistance, do you have the will to carry out all the duties of being a sponsor? Can you pray for the individual on a daily basis? Can you take them to site on the start of the walk? Can you attend to personal matters for them while they are away from their family and home? Can you reach out and contact total strangers to collect the required Agape letters for your pilgrim? Can you bring this person to the first few gatherings that take place each month? Can you do what is possible to get them involved in a Fourth Day Group?
Relying on God, can you plan to meet with your potential pilgrim and discuss what the walk is, what it meant to you? Do you know someone to contact if they ask questions that you don’t know the answer to?
Relying on God, seeking His will, knowing what is required; can you take the action necessary to become that person’s sponsor? If the answer is “yes” then proceed with the plan.
If the answer to the above is “no” then:
Ask God – “Is it my will that is getting in the way, Lord? What must I do Lord, who should I talk to, to seek your will and know what I should do? Help me Lord to know your will and be the instrument you intended me to be.”
Preparations are being made. Will we, the Kalamazoo Area Emmaus community, be ready ? The time is now. Are you doing God’s will this very moment?
