When the Attacks Come

Hello gentlemen!

This weekend was miracle-filled for me as well. Great idea to make a blog, Troy!

I have often toyed with the idea of starting a blog of agape-filled Christians. I contributed for a while to a couple of other blogs, and discovered that the blogosphere lumps all of us in with the Christian equivalent of radical Islam ("I'm OK, you're going to burn in Hell while I laugh"). Very frustrating. I still may do it - stay tuned.

The predicted attack on my peace and joy occurred Wednesday in clinic. I was seeing a 4-month old baby and her mother for a "well child check" (see if height and weight are OK, check development, give immunizations). The mom had decided firmly against immunizing the baby ("what if the research is wrong and immunizations really DO cause autism?"), but was just as firm against stopping smoking. I was accused of nagging when I tried to explain the research. D'oh!

It was like a punch in the gut.

Anyhow, I just finished reading "90 Minutes in Heaven" by Don Piper (great book about a guy who literally died in a can accident and was prayed back to life 90 minutes later), and he had the answer that day: when you are attacked, Praise the Lord! It worked.

Thank you, Lord, for being there for us to draw near to. Use us to love those around us until they see You. In Christ's name - Amen.

---Dr Ken (by the way, I lost 3 pounds eating DAAAYYYY CALORIES! Another miracle) FP
